Climate change poses a significant challenge to the sustainable development of various counties is not in dispute. The ability of the country to respond appropriately and effectively however depends to a large extent on the ability of policymakers and responsible staff to understand and assess impacts and vulnerability as well as use that knowledge to design sound legal, policy, and strategic responses.

More often than not, we have seen environment and climate change functions given the least priority with the assumption that it is a binary choice. It is therefore important to build capacities and develop practical knowledge on climate change, green economy, sustainable development, multispectral/integrated approaches to development critic available response options for policymakers to make informed decisions on appropriate steps for adaptation and mitigation and how all these links to development and growth in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Our training program provides participants with a sound understanding of the processes and key impacts of climate change, climate risk/vulnerability assessment, disaster risk reduction (DRR)/climate change adaptation (CCA) process, climate-resilient agricultural development, disaster preparedness and early warning, low carbon solutions, and the global and national policy response to climate change. There is a specific focus on building professional networks to support these processes.

Our work contributes to the implementation of the Durban Forum on capacity-building, Doha work programme and the Our work contributes to the implementation of Article 6 of the UNFCCC and Article 12 of the Paris Agreement which deal with education, training and public awareness-raising, as well as to the 2012-2020 Doha Work Programme.

Upon completion of the course, participants are equipped to undertake many of the activities that are necessary to strengthen climate change resilience and be sufficiently aware and knowledgeable to generate support for these actions within their agencies and networks. The program helps them to efficiently interact and network with direct stakeholders and other interested parties at different levels. Participants will be provided with certificates for successful completion.

Our trainings and capacity building efforts target individuals and institutions working in energy, agriculture, tourism, health, water, education, transport sectors. Participants may be policymakers, practitioners, civil servants, women, youths and children. In particular, the target audience includes.
