Governance and management
ECAS Institute is currently governed through an advisory board which is made up of renown experts in our areas of focus. The Board is expected to meet quarterly and to be concerned with general policy and oversight of programmes and operations, while leading the development of strategic objectives.
The decisions of the board are being implemented by an Executive Committee which is required to take responsibility for carrying out the oversight responsibilities of the Board on a more regular and frequent basis.
The current Board Chair is Prof. Edward Kairu the Principal Consultant and Chairman at ETC Consulting while the co-chair is Prof. Daniel Olago, Chairman, Department of Earth and Climate Sciences in the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Nairobi.
Managing the affairs of ECAS on a day-to-day basis is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO reports to the Board through the Executive Committee. He is assisted by staff currently located at the Methodist Ministries Centre, Oloitoktok Road, Lavington, Nairobi, Kenya.
ECAS is in the process of setting up regional hubs in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Malawi and Uganda.
