STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

To achieve the vision and mission set, ECAS Institute has assigned itself the following strategic objectives:

  • Support our partners and collaborators in prioritizing institutional capacity building.
  • Raise awareness at various levels on environmental and energy issues and increase the access of African institutions to capacity-building opportunities.
  • Developing and, where appropriate, promoting the exchange of best practices, experiences, and information on capacity building, including financial resources, case studies, and tools for capacity building.
  • Ensuring the long-term sustainability of capacity-building activities is achieved through integration in local, national, and regional planning processes.
  • Mobilizing financial and technical resources for capacity building.
  • Applying learning-by-doing approaches for capacity-building by supporting various types of capacity-building activities, projects, and programs at the national and local levels.

MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE

ECAS Institute is currently governed through an advisory board that is made up of renowned experts in our areas of focus. The Board is expected to meet quarterly and to be concerned with general policy and oversight of programs and operations while leading the development of strategic objectives.

The decisions of the board are being implemented by an Executive Committee which is required to take responsibility for carrying out the oversight responsibilities of the Board on a more regular and frequent basis.

Managing the affairs of ECAS on a day-to-day basis is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO reports to the Board through the Executive Committee. He is assisted by staff currently located at the Methodist Ministries Centre, Oloitoktok Road, Lavington, Nairobi, Kenya.

ECAS is in the process of setting up regional hubs in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Malawi, and Uganda.
